Short Biography
Euphrasie Kouassi Yao has led the UNESCO Chair Water, Women, and Decision-Making Power since 2006, advancing gender equality, peace, and sustainable development. A leading gender expert, she collaborates with UN agencies and the African Development Bank. She played a key role in Côte d'Ivoire’s national gender policy and the African Union’s gender initiatives.
She pioneered programs like the Gender Engineering Training Program, the Gender and Business Competitiveness Label, and the Love and Effective Solidarity Bank (BASE). As National Coordinator of COCOFCI, she promotes women’s leadership, earning UNDP recognition. A former Minister and Special Advisor to the President, she now advises the Prime Minister on gender issues.
Her literary works inspire gender advocacy, and her numerous international awards highlight her impact. With a visionary approach, she continues to empower women and youth, bridging gender gaps and fostering peace across Africa.
